On Monday I kicked off 7 by Smartpastor by writing about 7 sites you may not read but ought to take a peak at.  Then later that day the Monday hack was about Firefox.

So today on 7 by Smartpastor, I share my seven favorite Firefox extensions.

  • Split Browser – This add-on allows you to view web pages and tabs side by side as opposed to having to toggle between tabs.  This is very handy for doing research or writing blog entries/web mail posts.  I use this one all the time.

  • Skype Toolbar – If you are a long term reader, you know I think Skype is great.  This tool bar is a helpful way to integrate Skype with your web usage.  If you have Skype out, just click on a number to dial it with Skype.  How great is that?
  • ScreenGrab – Have you ever wanted to show someone part of a web page or grab part on an image?  This easy to use extension allows you to do just that.  It is very helpful for you if you make a number of graphics as a part of your ministry.
  • Foxmarks – Do you use more than one computer?  Load Firefox on both and have your bookmarks syncronized between those computers.  Also, you can access your bookmarks via a web page if you are using a computer at the library or anywhere else.
  • Google Gears – I don’t use this one a great deal yet but imagine I will a lot soon.  If you use a laptop as I do, you can load web pages that require saving and uploading to a serve, the data is saved on our computer, and then synced when you get back online.  I currently only use this with the Google Reader, but more and more applications are going to start using this technology.
  • Google Toolbar – Google has the best search on the planet…access search (and other tools is you are so inclined) right away by downloading the tool bar.  I use this a dozen times a day.
  • Scribe Fire - If you are a blogger, this one is a must.  It is a blog editor that runs in your firefox browser.  Again, I use this daily.
