One of the circumstances I find the most denergizing is dealing with critics.  It just drains me and unless you are endowed with an unusually high amount of self-assurance, I would think you too.

Zen Habits has a helpful list of of ways to deal with your critics…your detractors.  (Don’t be afraid of the name of the web site, it is not some Buddhist deal.  It is useful productivity site.)  They are…

  1. First learn to identify them.
  2. See if they have a valid point.
  3. Zap any negative thoughts they give you.
  4. Realize that there will always be detractors, and let them slide off you like water on a duck’s back.
  5. Confront them, and get them on your side.
  6. Laugh with them.
  7. Have counterarguments ready, and inform them.
  8. Be secure in the knowledge that you are doing something good.

It is good advice and seems based in reality.  The entire list and an in depth explanation of them can be found here.
