CCleaner is the Monday Hack

CCleaner, formerly Crap Cleaner, will clean up your system registry files, temporary files, unneeded Internet Explorer and Firefox files, and other junk that slows up your computer.
Here is what the editor at Cnet had to say…
Since this free application handles the majority of PC-cleaning chores and offers a nice extra, we have no problem recommending CCleaner to all users, except those who need to get rid of supersensitive data.
Web User Magazine out of the UK said this…
CCleaner is one of the best known cleaning tools available – and with good reason. Not only is the program available free of charge, but it includes a range of options that go far beyond the basics of system clean-up. In addition to familiar options such as emptying the Recycle Bin, deleting temporary files and clearing out MRU (most recently used) lists, the program will also wipe-out unnecessary memory dumps, file fragments and a range of information stored by other applications. Several options are on hand to ensure the Registry is free of obsolete or incorrect entries and a useful tool is available to take control of start-up programs.
And Small Business Computing said this…
CCleaner is definitely a handy program to have in one’s system utility repertoire. It provides a level of discriminate system cleaning the Windows operating system doesn’t provide, and even though some of CCleaner’s capabilities are built into Windows or the host applications, CCleaner still saves time by providing a centralized launch point for myriad housekeeping chores.
Bottom line, it is easy to use, performs the clean up in a matter of seconds, and is FREE! So browse on over to CCleaner and get your PC running faster.

Our accountant put me on to your blog Jeff and I have had the time to play around with some new things–so far gmail, the calendar and now Firefox. All of this has resulted in several questions. However just a couple for now. I like gmail but as a longgggg time Outlook Contacts, Calender etc. user the jury is still out for me on the calender and Firefox. I have loved Outlook.
Lots of questions have come up but few are:
All my contacts are on Outlook. Can i use the gmail contact list like outlook or is there another program that would work better?
And pardon my ignorance, but why would I want Thunderbird? I use several computers (3) and am wondering how it impacts that issue and what help Thunderbird would give to me.
And today i tried to add CCleaner but must confess confusion. When i went to the link you gave and followed it i ended up with something called RegCurSet which they wanted me to register and pay for. So it is sitting on my desktop but i have not activated it as i am not confident it is what you recommended. Is CCleaner RegCurSet? On the link there were several options and i was not clear about which to use.
By the way i just want to be efficient and use stuff without fuss–a techie i am not!
Thanks for any help you have.
Steve
