I am going to start a feature here on SmartPastor.com where I highlight different tools that I use that make my life easier.  Today I want to highlight Xdrive.

Xdrive is an online storage tool put out by AOL.  There are two things I love about it.

One, Xdrive has some software you can load that automatically backs up whatever you ask it to.  This data is then stored on the internet so were your church building to burn down you would still have your sermons, your church’s data base, etc.  (A backup set should always be kept off site…this does it for you!) I set it to back up "my documents" when I am in my staff meeting.  I have also set up a second account name for my home computer where I documents my wife and children create set to back up to.

Secondly, you can use Xdrive as an additional disk drive on your computer.  What that means if you can store your documents on this drive and then work on them at your office or at home.  You can even access your documents via a web interface…really anywhere in the world.

I am very happy with it and am recommending it to people right and left.

Xdrive is FREE!  (So long as your are okay with 5GB of storage.  That really is a lot of data!)  The only reason you would ever pay for it is if you decide the storage they provide is not enough and you want to upgrade to 50 GB.  Can’t beat that, huh?  Check it out:  www.xdrive.com.
