This one is new to me, but I am liking it so far.  It is called Airset and it promises to bring your online lives together.

There is a Chinese Proverb that says, "The man with two watches never knows what time it is."

If you are at all like me, you have contacts here and there, calendars on the Internet as well as on Outlook.  (And a PDA?)  You want to subscribe to all the cool Ical calendar’s available while still being able to sync with the more traditional PC Calendars.  The trouble is getting them to talk….you have two (or more!) watches.

I have been on a search for a computing Holy Grail…one that allowed all my apps to talk and share.  While Airset is not the Holy Grail, it is the best I have found thus far.

Here is what I do with Airset.

  1. Keep my calendar online at Airset.  It is always on in one of my Firefox tabs.
  2. When away from the office, I can, change, and delete appointments and contacts on my PDA and have them sync up with Outlook, my Yahoo address book, and Airset.

  3. When I don’t have my PDA or online access (but still have my laptop), I can still add, change, and delete appointments with Outlook.
  4. Subscribe to as many ICals as I like…including calendars my church makes available for various ministires.  (and the college bowl game schedules!)

To help the off-line apps communicate you do need to download a small piece of free software.   Setting it up was a breeze

Though I have not taken advantage of this capability, it has the ability to communicate with several different users.  So, your spouse could make their calendar available for sharing and you would be able to see what they are up to.  Same could go for your assistant (should you be so fortunate to have one.)

Airset seems to have a tasks processing capability as well though I use paper for that.

Airset sends me reminders of the events and tasks I tell it to via e-mail or, if I so choose, a text message on my cell phone.

Bottom line, this brings my worlds together.  So far, Airset has not let me down.

Oh yea, did I mention that unless you want to pay for interaction with your cell phone beyond reminder text messages, Airset is free?

Well worth a look my friends.
