More on Christians voting for Romney
Wayne Grudem, of Phoenix Seminary, says he would rather vote for an Evangelical Christian, but has decided to support Romney given the lack of alternatives. (This was written before the surge in popularity of Mike Huckabee. I would think a number of Christians are reconsidering their alternatives at this moment.)

Can evangelicals support a candidate who is politically conservative but not an evangelical Christian? Yes, certainly. In fact, it would demonstrate the falsehood of the liberal accusation that evangelicals are just trying to make this a “Christian nation” and only want evangelical Christians in office. For evangelicals to support a Mormon candidate would be similar to supporting a conservative Jewish candidate—someone we don’t consider a Christian but who comes from a religious tradition that believes in absolute moral values very similar to those that Christians learn from the Bible. (Source, italics added)
Grudem goes on to share some other examples from Scripture of non-believers being used to accomplish God’s purposes. I think this might be a good article to bookmark via del.icio.us for later use should he get the nomination.

I am not sure how an evangelical Christian could vote for someone who is a member of a cult. I don’t want Mormanism to have a platform for more deception in the United States.

I can understand why many Christians are uncomfortable voting for a Mormon but many of the candidates (other than Huckabee) seem to be Christians in name only. I think for may Christians, should it come to it, Romney will be preferable to Clinton.
