If your church is like most churches, you propeller heads are
volunteers who are not able to come help you at the drop of a hat if
there is trouble.  They do a good job and have your system up and
running, but can not necessarily come bail you out on a Saturday
afternoon if your computer goes belly up at the office.

That is why I have a backup of my current and active files at all
times…to avoid the Saturday afternoon panic.  To do this I use
Mozy.

A few years back my home computer crashed and I lost many important documents.  Had I installed Mozy on my home computer, I would have not lost these important documents.  (Photo’s of my children as babies and tax returns!)

Now I have Mozy both at home and at the office and my most important files are backed up every day so, should my computer crash again, I will be able to get them back.

Mozy has a free plan that I use at home.  The free plan has 2GB of storage.  Should I decide I am willing to pay, I could upgrade and pay 4.95 a month for unlimited storage.  You could back up everything for five bucks a month.  I also use the free plan, under a different user name, for folders I am currently working on at the office.

So far it has been flawless.  I downloaded it, pointed Mozy to what folders I want backed up, and daily my important documents and pictures are preserved for a worst case scenario.  After I set it up I have not had to do one thing with it. (setup is a breeze…my mother-in-law did it!)

I used to use Xdrive for backup but the automatic backup sometimes had trouble logging in.  Mozy seems like gold.

You should have your computer completely backed  up as well.  Most
churches these days have a network of some sort for file storage and
this network will be automatically backed up.  If by chance you do
not have a full back up system in place, either do yourself a favor
and pay for an unlimited backup with Mozy or go buy yourself an
external hard drive and manually back up your “my documents”
folder weekly.

This is the perfect application for tech smart pastors…it is
free, automatic, and gives peace of mind.  Mozy is a no brainier that
could save you from a crisis and I recommend it highly.

Surf on over and give Mozy a try.
