On Marriage, Adultery, and Grace
The Internet Monk has a new article up on adultery. It is worth the read.
As a pastor, one of the most difficult thing we can do is walk through this horrible event with people…spouses, friends, and children.
Some of the highlights of this article include….
1. Sexuality needs to be discussed in churches in a way that is gender balanced. Far to often we get a feminized version of sexuality.
2. Repressing your sexuality, if married, will make you vulnerable.
3. Of course, often the problem is the state of the marriage which the person considering or having the affair needs to take ownership of.
There is also an interesting note in the comment section. According to one person, who cites the work of John Gottman, women are now slightly more likely to have an affair!
This is a must read as many folks in our church are in the midst of or recovering from this devastating sin.
