Session 9: Bill Hybels Relentless
In this shortened two day affair, it was time for the closing session. As is usually the case, Bill Hybels gave the closing talk that was high on the inspiration meter. His title was Relentless.
He spent a great deal of this time talking about Mother Theressa and the way she made the decision to become totally yielded to God. He talked about how she was blessed but had to press on and persevere to make that happen.
He pointed out there are two kinds of stories when we are called to yeild to God.
- Stories of fully obeying God and being blessed.
- Stories of choosing comfort and thus failing to have a happy ending.
He also said something I thought was interesting, that there seems to be a correlation between totally yielding your life to Christ and either receiving a fresh assignment from Christ or a recommissioning of an existing assignment.
Finally he reminded us, as only he can do, the callings are precious and we are to not squander them. When we receive our calling, we need to keep pushing and paying the price. Even when we feel dry and disappointed, we need to press on.
This talk was typical Bill Hybels. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for this man of God. His inspirational ability is a gift to pastors and church leaders. This talk was too.
