I love Skype.  I love sitting at my office, wearing my headphones to work hands free, making calls… arranging for my next trip out of the area knowing it is not costing my church a dime.

Skype is a free piece of communication software that allows for voice conversations and even, if you pay a few bucks, phone calls to traditional phones.

The call quality is great….better than a clear cell phone call.

You can also chat via skype, send files to other skype members, and even send SMS text messages.  (SMS does have a small fee)

If you sign up before the end of the month, you can make unlimited
phone calls to the United States and Canada for just $14.95…..a year.

Another great feature…Skype allows for free "Skypecasts."  (Skypecast = free conference call!) This February my church is going to be doing a Skypecast with some people in Mexico.  This will be on site of the location we are sending a short-term mission team to.

Check out Skype.

Look what the Fast Company Blog said about Skype, quoting Micheal Powell of the FCC…

The novelty of Skype’s ‘free global telephony’
offering has attracted the attention of millions of families and
friends and in addition, has caught the eye of Federal Communications
Commission Chairman, Michael Powell, who remarked, "I knew it was over
when I downloaded Skype … the quality is fantastic, and it’s free … the
world will change now inevitably." (source)
