The Monday Hack – The Skype Firefox Extension
I have written before about Skype and how much I love it. I don’t know if I had you convinced, but I want to give you another reason to download, install, and use this great tool….the Skype Toolbar Firefox extension.
I am at my denominational pastor’s meetings this week and I was talking to someone who works in the Department of World Mission. He was talking about how Skype was changing the ways their department communicated. He talked about how the denominational offices were now using Skype out to make all of their calls. He talked about the thousands of dollars they were saving using this great service.
The Skype toolbar is an Firefox extension one downloads that, when logged in to Skype, creates active links to actions you can take with Skype. So….Skype user names become active on a web page and all one has to do is click on the link and…presto…you are connected to the user via Skype.
But that part that I really love is this….if you have Skype Out (and I sure hope you followed my advice to purchase it), the Skype Toolbar Firefox extension will highlight phone numbers you can call and all you have to do is click on those to make the call.
Pretty easy, huh? Don’t use Firefox to browse the web? Get it here:
Happy Computing!
