Why Titles Matter
A few days ago I got an e-mail…an e-mail I usually ignore. This time I read right way. It was from Sojourners and the title read, "Rick Warren should be in jail."

Right way my blood got boiling. What? Rick Warren should not be in jail! I don’t care what you think of him and his positions, he is not a criminal!
So I started reading and come to find out, it was a call to action regarding a plan to censor religious materials in prison libraries. The point being that if this plan came into being, Rick Warren’s book "The Purpose Driven Life" would not be available for inmates to read.
Here is my point…if it was not for a provocative title, I would have deleted it without a second look. Because of a title with some shock value, I read it and was informed on an issue that is somewhat important.
Titles matter. People will not come to church if our sermon titles are lame. We need to spend time to create provocative titles that elicit interest. It is worth it! (Oh yea, and back it up with some good content.)
Oh yea, if you want to know a little about the issue you can go here.
